Continuous Improvement at Plus Pack A/S

In Spring 2004 Anpro received an award from Danish Industry’s Management Council for a project undertaken at Packaging Manufacturer Plus Pack in Odense, Denmark. This recognition was based upon a productivity programme which had improved productivity by 35% in just 7 months. Naturally everyone involved was proud of this achievement - however the acid test for Anpro and their clients is sustainability.

Results since the end of the programme speak for themselves:

- Productivity continues to soar. By September 2004 productivity had improved by 65% compared to the baseline at the start of the project.

- Employee satisfaction is increasing. From the outset employee participation has been high - we provided some tools and training - but the credit for results and continued improvement is all down to the enthusiasm and involvement of Plus Pack’s employees.

- Belief in the future. The changes at Plus Pack are noticeable. Employees are proud of being involved in building a competitive business and have created an environment where this can continue.

“20% of the potential for improvement is in specific, concrete changes. The remaining 80% of the potential is in the hearts and minds of our people,” says Steen Haustrup, Plus Pack’s Managing Director Plus Pack. “Today Plus Pack has become a totally new company, yet has done so while retaining the good things from the past. Our work with Anpro resulted in a shared view of our vision, goals and challenges - shared between management and workers. We no longer talk about opportunities for improvement - we just set our goals together and achieve them. I am absolutely convinced that this positive trend will be sustained in the years ahead.”
